Coming soon to serve you better: Chicagoland’s newest Buick GMC facility.

14 June 2011
GM has announced that it will spend $20 million on improvements to its Fairfax assembly plant in Kansas City, KA where the Buick LaCrosse is built. This investment will help this plant produce 2012 LaCrosses with eAssist.
eAssist is fuel-saving technology and will come on the 2012 LaCrosse and 2012 Regal, enabling these cars to achieve a remarkable 37 MPG on the highway (based on GM testing; official EPA estimates not yet available). eAssist improves overall fuel economy by 25 percent over the 2011 four-cylinder/six-speed powertrain. Now that’s good stuff!
What is eAssist? Glad you asked. In brief, “The system uses a state-of-the-art lithium-ion battery system, electric induction motor-generator and regenerative braking capability to improve fuel economy.” In further detail, eAssist will be:
Mated to Regal’s 2.4L Ecotec direct injection four-cylinder engine and next-generation six-speed automatic transmission, the eAssist system uses power stored in the battery to provide needed electrical boost in various driving scenarios, optimizing engine and transmission operation. An advanced 115V lithium-ion battery and latest-generation 15-kW induction motor-generator unit help increase fuel economy through:
- Regenerative braking, which provides up to 15 kW of electricity to charge the battery
- Providing up to 11 kW (15 hp) of electric power assistance during acceleration
- Automatic engine shut-off when the vehicle is stopped
- Aggressive fuel cut-off during deceleration down to zero vehicle speed, enabled by the torque smoothing provided by the induction motor-generator unit
- charge/discharge of the high-voltage battery
Tony DiSalle, vice president of Buick marketing says, “We believe Regal and LaCrosse with eAssist provide more logical and affordable choices, compared to other hybrid midsize and full-size luxury sedans.” eAssist will be coming to Mike Haggerty Buick GMC this fall. 6 January 2011
Mike Haggerty announces that the all-new 2012 Buick Verano is coming to Oak Lawn! Verano is Spanish for “summer.” According to GM’s press release, “The all-new 2012 Buick Verano compact luxury sedan, the brand’s third new model in the past two years and first in the compact luxury segment, [was] revealed at the North American International Auto Show.”
“Verano is distinguished by luxury and technology, including 10 standard air bags, an available heated steering wheel and a next-generation radio system with OnStar-powered connectivity that enables seamless communication between the Verano and the driver’s smart phone. An Ecotec 2.4L and six-speed automatic powertrain combination is standard and delivers an estimated 177 horsepower (132 kW) and 170 lb.-ft. torque (230 Nm), 0-60 mph performance of 8.0 seconds and an estimated 31 mpg on the highway. A 2.0L turbo engine will be offered in the future.” For more information on the 2012 Buick Verano, visit http://www.buick.com/content/dam/Buick/Global/master/nscwebsite/en/home/Vehicles/Regal_GS/01_Images/Buick_Verano_Release.pdf
“The 2012 Buick Verano should be a hit among luxury car buyers who prefer smaller vehicles and don't require superfluous features or acres of space.”
Check out what a couple columnists said about the Buick Regal:
1 June 2010
“The base Regal will do a lot to bring new people into Buick showrooms, and it could even steal from Acura and Lexus folks who are turned off by those brands' styling (Acura) or aging models (Lexus IS).”
27 April 2010
“And make no mistake, this is not your granddad's Buick. It's not a hairy-chested musclecar, either, like the crude but lovable Grand National. Well-equipped and beautifully styled inside and out, the Regal CSX and Turbo are suave and sophisticated sedans that have what it takes to appeal to buyers who would normally drive right past the Buick showroom on their way to the Acura or Lexus store.”
ARRIVED IN CHICAGO MAY 15 AT MIKE HAGGERTY IN OAK LAWN
7 April 2010
The all new Buick Regal, a sleek-designed sports sedan with superior handling and ample power wrapped in Buick sophistication and style is almost here according to Mike Haggerty co-owner of Mike Haggerty Buick GMC in Oak Lawn.
"We're due to have our initial delivery of 14 Regals May 14TH and customers are already calling on a regular basis to see if they can buy it yet," said Haggerty. Dick (co-owner Dick Haggerty) and I see this as a giant step forward for General Motors.

As the #1 selling GM Pontiac dealership in Illinois for many years Mike and Dick Haggerty see this as a great way to satisfy many of their past Pontiac customers. “This gives us another great product to offer past Pontiac customers as well as all others in the four door luxury sports car segment. We're feeling great about this new product as well as other new Buick cars planned in the near future.”
The first cars due in are the CXL models which include leather seats and other comforts. The MSRP is around $26,000. The base model is due sometime during the fourth quarter and will most likely be $2,000 to $3,000 less.
BUICK REEMERGENCE
The new Buick Regal is Buick's re-entry into the Sports Sedan Segment. Buick is currently immersed in a transformation that started with the Enclave luxury crossover continuing with a completely redesigned LaCrosse luxury sedan and now the new Regal sport sedan.
Buick is returning to its roots as a forward-looking, premium brand with vehicles characterized by sculpted designs, responsive performance, luxurious interiors and personal technologies. Additional new vehicles are planned and will continue to expand Buick's portfolio.
